Everything you need to know about surveys and more

The 'qualification' stage

Surveys look to collect the opinions of a specific group of people called the ‘intended’ or ‘target audience’ (e.g., bakers, bikers, dog owners, Android users, etc.).

That’s why every time you click on a survey tile, you’ll land on a page that says, “Start Qualification”. This process lets us know if you’re part of the survey’s target group.

When you don't qualify

At the end of the qualification stage, you either get matched to a survey or get ‘screened out’.

‘Screened out’ is the term used when a person isn’t eligible for a particular survey. You can get screened out in two ways. First, if you’re not part of a survey’s target group as previously mentioned. And second, due to ‘quota full’. This happens when the survey has already collected enough responses from your target group (hence why the survey is no longer available to you).

When you qualify

If we think the survey you selected is the right match, you’ll be redirected to the actual survey. Now this is where the real fun begins. It’s at this point where you get to share your opinion about the topic at hand and earn points at completion.

Here’s a few useful things to know:
1

Surveys are created by our clients (the companies that want to hear from you).

That’s why not all surveys look and feel the same.

2

Some surveys will be hosted on our client's domain.

When this happens, the web address will change. Once you finish the survey, you will be redirected back to e-Rewards.

3

Clients have a few qualification questions of their own.

If you get screened out at this point, it means that even though you’re part of the survey's wider target group (e.g., dog owners), you might not be exactly who our client is looking for (e.g., dog owners who use iPhones).

Complete vs. Finish

You ‘complete’ a survey when you qualify, go through, and answer all survey questions until the very end.

You ‘finish’ a survey when you get screened out (either because you weren’t a match or due to quota full).

Survey-taking tips

When it comes to market research – data (or shall we say, your survey responses) is key. That’s why as market research providers, we’re big on data quality. But what does this all mean?

In practical terms, we have stringent measures to weed out dishonest activity, which is why it’s ever so important that our members do the P-A-T:

  • > Take time to read survey questions Properly
  • > Answer survey questions Accurately
  • > Answer survey questions Truthfully

This is to avoid getting flagged by our system and ‘quarantined’ (when a member has their account frozen until further investigation).

That's all for now. Want to test everything you've just learned?
